Patna : Spain won Davis Cup title for the 6th time beating Canada at Caja Magica, Madrid, Spain, 2-0 in the final after November 24, 2019, mid-night. World No 1 Rafael Nadal, 33, Spain, beat World No 15 Denis Shapovalov, 20, Canada, in straight sets 6-3, 7-6 to win the Davis Cup title for his country.

Nadal’s teammate Feliciano Lopez, 38, the World No 62, described him as a Superhero after Spain defeated Canada in the final. Nadal, who is now four-times Davis Cup titlist, won all his 8 matches including 5 singles without dropping a set during the week at Madrid. Nadal described the week as amazing. Spain last played the Davis Cup final in 2012 losing to Czech Republic. Spain had last won the Davis Cup title in 2011.

Earlier, World No 9 Roberto Bautista Agut, 31, Spain, whose father had passed away four-day back, beat World No 21 Felix Auger Aliassime, 19, Canada, 7-6, 6-3 in the first singles to give Spain a 1-0 lead in the final.
