Patna : South Africa (SA) thumped Sri Lanka (SL) by an innings and 45 runs in the 1st test on Day 4 at SuperSport Park, Centurion, SA, on December 29, 2020, to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match test series. Faf du Plessis (SA) was named Player Of The Match. SL had won the toss and opted to bat.
Sri Lanka, who had scored 396 in their first innings, were all out for just 180 runs in 46.1 overs in their 2nd innings with opener Kusal Perera scoring 64 in 87 balls with 10 fours while Dinesh Chandimal scored 25.
