Ara: The University Grant Commission (UGC) and National Higher Education Campaign, RUSA, will not give any grant to colleges not accredited to the NAAC. The UGC will give grant to colleges till March 2017 under 12th fifth year planning but after March 2017, NAAC accreditation will be mandatory for all colleges for any grant from the UGC and RUSA.
The RUSA will give all types of grants to the constituent colleges from after March 2017 and NAAC accreditation is must for that. If the UGC and RUSA stop grant, the development of colleges will be hampered. The colleges build buildings, lavatories, laboratories with these grants. At presen,t the UGC gives grant but now the UGC too has made NAAC accreditation mandatory.
Veer Kuer Singh University (VKSU), Ara, has 17 constituent colleges but only one contitunet college, M M Mahila College, Dalmianagar, in Rohtas district is accredited to NAAC so far. Mahant Mahadevanand Mahila Mahavidyalay (MMMM), Ara, in Bhojpur district has also reportedly completed all formalities to get NAAC accreditation. A NAAC team will visit the college in August. If MMMM is accredited to NAAC, it would be the second such constituent college under VKSU.
But despite all efforts, colleges under the VKSU do not appear serious to get NAAC accreditation though five colleges: M V College, Buxar, S S V College, Bhabhua, J L N College, Dehari-on-Sone, D K College, Dumraon and S B College, Ara, have submitted the SSR and it is hoped they will be accredited to NAAC by the end of this year.
The VKSU administration organized several workshops to facilitate colleges apply for NAAC accreditation. The NAAC experts told the Principals of the colleges and coordinators about the minutes of NAAC so that college administration prepare for NAAC accreditation.
Vice Chancellor, VKSU, Leela Chand Sah said that accreditation of constituent colleges to NAAC is mandatory for grant and the VKSU administration has issued directives to the colleges several times in this connection. If the colleges remain lax in submitting the SSR, the university administration ill take disciplinary action against them.
