Patna : World No 3 in Badwinton World Federation (BWF) rankings P V Sindhu, 23, India, and World No 10 Saina Nehwal, 28, India, reached the quartersfinals (QF) of BWF World Championship at Nanjing, China, on August 2, 2018. World No 1 Tai Tzu Ying, Chinese Taipei, also entered the QF beating World No 13 Beiwen Zhang, USA, 21-19, 21-14 in 34 minute.

B Sai Praneeth, India, also reached the QF in the men’s section on August 2. But, World No 6 Kidambi Srikanth was shown the exit door by World No 38 Daren Liew, Malaysia. World No 1 Viktor Axelsen, Denmark, also entered the QF defeating World No 10 NG Ka Long Angus, Hongkong, 21-19, 21-18 in 50 minute in the pre-quarterfinals. Liew beat Srikanth 21-18, 21-18 in pre-QF in 41 minute.

Saina beat World No 4 and 2013 champion Ratchanok Intanon, Thailand, 21-16, 21-19 in 47 minute in the pre-quartersfinals on August 2. Saina will play World No 8 and reigning Olympic champion Carolina Marin, Spain, in the QF.

Sindhu beat Ji Hyun Sung, South Korea, 21-10, 21-18 in 42 minute to enter the quartersfinals. She will play World No 6 Nozomi Okuhara, Japan, in the QF. Marin beat Sakaya Sato, Japan, 21-7, 21-13 in 32 minute to reach the QF.

Praneeth beat orld No 23 Hans Kristian Soleberg Vittinghus, Denmark, 21-13, 21-11 in 39 minute to enter the QF of World Champonship. Praneeth will play World No 7 Kento Momota, Japan, in the QF.
