Patna : Replying to England’s first innings total of 287, India were 160/6 in 48 overs at tea on the second day of first cricket test Edgbaston, Birmingham, UK, on August 2, 2018, with captain Virat Kohli batting on 53 in 102 ball with 9 fours while spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was batting on 6. India are trailing by 127 runs.

Oopeners Murali Vijay and Shikhar Dhawan gave India a good start with a 50 run stand for the first wicket. Vijay scored 20 while Dhawan made 26 run. Lokesh Rahul was out for 4 while Ajinkya Rahane made 15. Wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik was out for a duck. Hardik Pandya made 22. Pandya and Kohli were involved in a 48 run stand for the 6th wicket. For England, Sam Curran took 4/38 while Ben Stokes took 2/40.

Earlier, resuming at their overnight score of 285/9, England were all out for 287 in 89.4 overs. Ashwin took 4/62 while Mohammad Shami took 3/64.
