Patna : World No 3 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings P V Sindhu, 23, India, entered the second round of Yonex – Sunrise Hong Kong Open 2018 beating World No 14, Nitchaon Jindapol, 27, Thailand, in a very close contest on November 14, 2018, at Kowloon, Hong Kong.

Sindhu beat Jindapol 21-15, 13-21, 21-17 in 61 minutes in the first round. Sindhu won 55 rallies in the match to 53 by Jindapol. She also won 6 consecutive points to 4 by Jindapol. Sindhu now leads Jindapol 5-1 head to head.

World No 10 Sung Ji Hyun, 27, South Korea, also entered the second round beating World No 18 Aya Ohori, 22, Japan, 21-10, 21-12 in the first round in only 29 minutes. Hyun won 42 rallies in the match to 22 by Ohori. She also won 7 consecutive points in the match to 2 by Ohori. The two players are 3-3 head to head.

World No 19 Mia Blichfeldt, 21, Denmark, beat World No 31 Yevgeniya Kosetskaya, 23, Russia, in a tough three-game contest 18-21, 21-19, 21-15 in 54 minutes to enter the second round. Blichfeldt won 60 rallies in the match to 55 by Yevgeniya. Both gthe players won 6 consecutive points each in the match. Blichfeldt now leads Yevgeniya 3-2 head to head.

World No 13 Gao Fangjie, 20, China, also entered the second round after her first round opponent and World No 36 Saena Kawakami, 20, Japan, retired due yo injury in the first game.
