Patna : World No 3 and six-time former champion Roger Federer, 37, Switzerland, beat World No 8 Dominic Thiem, 25, Austria, in a lopsided match 6-2, 6-3 in a Group Stage match in Nitto ATP Finals, the ATP World Tour’s season finale, at 02, London, UK, on November 14, 2018. He won 4 break points to none by Thiem besides winning 5 games in a row.
Federer’s winning percentage on his first serve was 87% to 55 % of Thiem. His winning percentage on second serve was also 80 % compared to 57 % of Thiem. Federer had lost his first Group Stage match to World No 9 Kei Nishikori. Thiem has lost both his Group Stage match.
Federer will face World No 6 Kevin Anderson, 32, South Africa, in third Group Stage match on November 16, 2018. Thiem will face Nishikori in his third Group Stage match on November 15.
