Patna : World No 5 P V Sindhu, 24, India, defeated World No 2 and 2017 World Champion Nozomi Okuhara, 24, Japan, in straight games to reach the semi-finals of Blibli Indonesia Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 1,000 tournament, at Jakarta, Indonesia, on July 19, 2019.

Fifth seed Sindhu, the 2016 Olympic silver medallist, demolished 3rd seed Okuhara 21-14, 21-7 in 44 minutes in the quarter-finals at Istora Gelora  Bung Karno, Jakarta, Indonesia. Sindhu won 42 rallies to 21 by Okuhara. She was 10 consecutive points in the match to 3 by Okuhara. Sindhu now leads Okuhara 8-7 Head to Head.

World No 4 and 4th seed Akane Yamaguchi, Japan, beat World No 26 Nitchaon Jindapol, Thailand, 21-17, 21-14 in 44 minutes in the QFs to advance to the semi-finals of the tournament. Yamaguchi will face World No 1 Tai Tzu Ying, Chinese Taipei, in the SFs.

World No 3 and 2nd seed Chen Yu Fei, China, beat World No 11 Beiwen Zgang, USA, in a three-game thriller 21-14, 17-21, 21-16 in 49 minutes to advance to the semi-finals. She will face P V Sindhu in the SFs.
