Patna : World No 18 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings Kantaphon Wangcharoen, Thailand, beat World No 29 Huang Yu Xiang, China, 21-10, 21-17 in 39 minutes in the quarter-finals to enter the semi-finals of Blibli Indonesia Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 1,000 tournament, at Jakarta, Indonesia, on July 19, 2019.

Kantaphon won 42 rallies in the match to 27 by Huang Yu Xiang, who had stunned World No 1 Kento Momota, Japan, in the 2nd round on July 18, 2019. Kantaphon now leads Huang 2-0 Head to Head.

Kantaphon will face World No 3 Chou Tien Chen, Chinese Taipei, the 4th seed, in the semi-finals on July 20, 2019. Chou Tien Chen beat World No 7 Jonatan Christie, Indonesia, in a three-game thriller 16-21, 21-18, 21-14 in 76 minutes in tbe quarter-finals.

World No 37 Wong Wing Ki Vincent, Hong Kong, upset World No 13 NG Ka Long Angus, Hong Kong, 21-16, 21-13 in 33 minutes in the quarter-finals. He will face World No 11 Anders Antonsen, Denmark, in the semi-finals on July 20. Antonsen beat World No 16 Lee Zii Jia, Malaysia, 21-16, 21-11 in 49 minutes in the QFs.
