Patna : World No 3 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings P V Sindhu, 23, India, entered the pre-quartersfinals of BWF World Championship at Nanjing, China, on August 1, 2018, defeating World No 41 Fitriani Fitriani in the second round. Sindhu beat Fitriani Fitriani 21-14, 21-9 in 35 minute.

But, World No 19 Sameer Verma, India, lost to twice Olympicn and five time World Champion Lin Dan, 34, China, 21-17, 21-14 in 45 minute. But, it was not all a comfortable victory for 6 times All England Badmintion champion Lin Dan, the World No 9, as Verma involved him in long rallies in the second game.

World No 26 B Sai Preneeth, India, beat Luis Eenriq Penalver 21-18, 21-11 in 33 minute. But, World No 11 H S Prannoy, India, lost in three games to Ygor Coelho, Brazil, 21-8, 16-21, 15-21 in the second round.
