Patna : South Africa beat Sri Lanka by 4 wickets in the 2nd ODI at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, Dambulla, Sri Lanka, on August 1, 2018, riding on 87 run in 78 ball with 13 fours and a six by openr and wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock, 43 in 43 ball with 6 fours by his opening partner Hashim Amla, and 49 in 41 ball with 3 fours and 2 sixes by captain Faf du Plessis. Jean Paul Duminy made 32 in 29 ball with a four and a six while Willem Mulder remained not on 19 in 32 ball. South Africa now lead 2-0 in the 3-match ODI series.

Earlier, electing to bat after winning the toss, Sri Lanka 244/8 in 50 overs with opener Niroshan Dickwella scoring 69 with 10 fours while captain Angelo Mathew remained unbeaten on 79 with 6 fours. Opener Upul Tharanga scored 9 while Kusal Mandis was out for a duck. Wicketkeeper Kusal Perera made 12.

For South Africa, Lungisani Ngidi took 3/50 while Andile Phehlukwayo took 3/44. Kagiso Rabada and Willem Mulder took one wicket each.

In reply, South Africa made 246/6 in 42.5 overs. For Sri Lanka, spinner Akila Dhananjay took 3/60 while Suranga Lakmal, Kasun Rajitha, and Thisara Perera took one wicket each.
