Patna : World Champion and 6th seed P V Sindhu, 24, India, entered the second round of Yonex-Sunrise Hong Kong Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 500 event,  on November 12, 2019, defeating World No 19 Kim Ga Eun, South Korea, but World No 9 Saina Nehwal, 29, India, lost her first round match to World No 22 Cai Yan Yan, China, continuing her poor show.

World No 6 Sindhu beat Kim Ga Eun, South Korea, 21-15, 21-16 in 36 minutes at Hong Kong Coliseum, Hong Kong, to advance to the 2nd round. Sindhu won 42 rallies in the match to 31 by Eun. She won 7 consecutive points to 4 by the South Korean.It was the first match between the two players.

World No 22 Cai Yan Yan beat 8th seed Saina in straight games 21-13, 22-20 in only minutes in first round. The Chinese won 43 rallies in the match to 33 by the Indian.Yan won 7 consecutive points in the match to 5 by Saina. Yan now leads Saina 2-0 Head to Head.

Wprld No 17 Beiwen Zhang, USA, beat World No 8 Michelle Li, Canada, 21-18, 21-18 in 38 minutes in 1st round. Zhang won 42 rallies in the match to 36 by Li. Zhang won 4 consecutive points in the match to 6 by the Canadian. The two players are now locked 4-4 Head to Head.

World No 10 A N Se Young, 17, South Korea, beat World No 47 Yip Pui Yin, Hong Kong, 21-9, 21-14 in 37 minutes to enter the 2nd round. The South Korean teenage sensation won 42 rallies in the match to 23 by Yin. The South Korean won 10 consecutive points in the match to 5 by Yin. It was first match between the two players.

World No 5 Ratchanok Intanon, Thailand, beat World No 37 Kim Hyo Min, South Korea, 21-12, 21-8 in 35 minutes to progress to the 2nd round. Intanon won 42 rallies in the match to 20 by Min. She won 6 consecutive points to 2 by Min. It was first match between the two players.
