Patna : World No 28 H S Prannoy, India, beat World No 29 Huang Yu Xiang, China, in straight games to enter the second round of Yonex-Sunrise Hong Kong Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 500 event, at Hong Kong on November 12, 2019. But, World No 16 Sameer Verma, India, crashed out of the tournament losing his first round match to World No 26 Wang Tzu Wei, Chinese Taipei.

Prannoy beat Huang Yu Xiang 21-17, 21-17 in 44 minutes to enter the 2nd round of the tournament. Prannoy won 42 rallies in the match to 34 by Xiang. He won 5 consecutive points in the match to 2 by the Chinese. xiang though still leads Prannoy 3-2 Head to Head.

Wang Tzu Wei beat World No 16 Sameer Verma, India, in a three-game thriller 21-11, 13-21, 21-8 in 54 minutes to enter the 2nd round. Wang won 55 rallies in the match to 40 by the Indian. Wang won 8 consecutive points in the match to 5 by Sameer. Wang now leads Sameer 2-1 Head to Head.
