Patna : World No 5 P V Sindhu, 24, India, beat World No 12 Ham Yue, 19, China, in straight games to enter the second round of Daihatsu Yonex Japan Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 750 Badminton tournament, at Musashino Forest Sports Plaza, Tokya, Japan, on July 24, 2019.
Fifth seed Sindhu, who had reached the final of Indonesia Open last week, beat fast rising Han Yue 21-9, 21-17 in 37 minutes in the first round. Sindhu won the first game in 15 minutes only but Han Yue put up good fight in the second game and was even leading 11-7 at one stage, But Sindhu rallied back strongly to capture the second game 21-17 in 22 minutes.
It was the second meeting between the two players and Sindhu is now leading Han 2-0 Head to Head. Han Yue had stunned World No 8 Saina Nehwal in Syed Modi Open in November 2018.
