Patna : World No 3 in BWF rankings P V Sindhu, 23, India, beat World No 2 Akane  Yamaguchi, Japan, in a three-set thriller in the semi-final to enter the final of women’s badminton singles final. Sindhu will clash with World No 1 Tai Tzu Ying, 24, Chinese Taipei, for the Gold Medal on August 28, 2018. Sindhu is the first Indian woman shuttler to reach the final of Asian Games.

Olympic Silver Medallist Sindhu beat Yamaguchi  21-17, 15-21, 21-10 in the semi-finals. Yamaguchi had made a strong comeback in the second set but Sindhu was all over her in the third set. Tai Tzu Ying had defeated Saina Nehlwal, India, in the first semi-finals. It was Saina’s 10th straight defeat against Ying.
