CPI(ML) leader shot dead at Bhojpur village triggering tension

Ara : Some unidentified miscreants shot dead a CPI (ML) leader Ramakant Ram at village Nadhi under Sahar police station on August 27, 2018, morning. Tension prevails in and around Nadhi following the incident. Bhojpur SP Awakash Kumar along with the ASP (operations) Nitin Kumar, SDPO, Piro, Reshu Krishna and heavy police force rushed to the spot. Heavy police force has been deployed and the entire village has been cordoned off. Police are conducting raids to arrest the miscreants. The reason behind the incident is still to be ascertained.

SHO, Sahar police station, said that Ramakant Ram, son of Sukan Ram of Nadhi, had gone to the open field to attend call of nature on August 27 morning when some unidentified armed miscreants shot at him and fled away from the scene. The SHO with force rushed to the spot and was bringing an seriously injured Ramakant over  to Sadar Hospital, Ara, but he succumbed to his injuries on way to the hospital.

Bhojpur SP Awakash Kumar that the reason behind the murder was not yet clear and police have launched combing operation to arrest the miscreants. He said the police will arrest the miscreants at the earliest. He said it might a case of old enmity. The SP further said that a cheque of Rs 4.12 lakh under the provision of SC/ST Act and a cheque of Rs 20,000 under the Kabir Antyeshthi scheme have been given to the family members of the deceased.

Sudama Prasad, CPI (ML), MLA from Tarari assembly constituency in Bhojpur district, said that criminals are ruling the roost in Bihar and no one was safe. He said murder of Ramakant Ram for no reason by feudal forces indicates that law and order has collapsed in Bihar. He said that Bhojpur DM Sanjeev Kumar and SP Awakash Kumar had  failed to check rising crime and demanded their immediate transfer. He said the villagers have blocked the Sahar-Ara main road with the body and are raising slogans against the Bhojpur district administration and the state government. He demanded Rs 10 lakh compensation to the deceased family, a government job for the son of the deceased, and arrest of the miscreants within 24 hours. He said that blockade would continue till the DM and the SP come on spot.

Bhojpur district has witnessed a war of attrition in between the CPI (ML) and banned Ranveer Sena and Nadhi village located  southe of Bhojpur district headquarters, Ara, under Sahar police station had been a hot bed in 1990s.
