Dhanbad : Putki (Dhanbad) police on Saturday sent a 28 year old shopkeeper Pravin Singh , father of two children, to Dhanbad jail on charge of raping a 11 year old girl finding her alone. The shopkeeper, who sells eatables and other things at his shop located just oposite Baludih hospital at Munidih, about 15km away from Dhanbad, pulled the girl inside his shop, when the girl who is new to this city, went to buy eatables from the shop at 2 pm on July 21. The girl hails from Madhupur in Jharkhand.
According to officer incharge of Munidih police oupost (OP) R C Tiwary, Manju, came to Putki only one month back to live with her maternal uncle after her mother sent her to her brother’s place. “ On July 21 afternoon, as Manju was feeling hungry , she went to buy the eatables from Parvin shop and finding her alone, the shopkeeper lured her inside the shop on pretext of helping him and once she inside the shop to help shopkeeper Pravin, he closed the main door and raped her inside the shop and warned her that if she told anyone about it he will kill her and no one will come to help her.Weeping Manju went back home and kept weeping pleading her aunt to ask her mother to reach the place immediately.
When Manju’s mother reached Putki on July 22 afternoon, Manju narrated her woes to her mother who with help of her relatives rushed to Putki police station with her daughter and lodged complaint with them the same evening in this connection. ” After the complaint was lodged, I along with cops rushed to Parvin Singh shop. Seeing the police he tried to run away but was caught and once I started interrogating him, he admitted that he had raped the girl in a drunken state. I called the Mukhiya in whose presence Pravin accepted his crime,” Tiwary said. ” I sent the girl for medical examination and recording of her statement before a Dhanbad magistrate on Saturday morning,” he added.
Pravin, who has admitted his crime has been sent to jail,” stated the OC adding that the shopkeeper in the presence of dozens of persons has confessed that he raped the girl finding her alone. Its really very sad incident, stated the OC.
