Bettiah : SHO, Inarwa police station, Uday Kumar, and about a dozen other persons were injured when residents of Pirari Bazaar on Indo-Nepal Nepal border in West Champaran district clashed with the cops during a vehicle checking drive on April 5, 2019, evening.

Sources said that a police team led by SHO, Inarawa police station, Uday Kumar, was checking vehicles when a mob had a heated exchange with police personnel over the issue of genuiness of documents of a vehicle. The verbal duel soon took a violent turn in which SHO, Inarawa police station, Uday Kumar and about a dozen others sustained injuries. The villagers, in protest, damaged the police vehicle. On getting information, Sikta MLA and Sugarcane Development Minister Khurshid Alam reached there and controlled  the tense situation. SHO Kumar was admitted to local Government Hospital.

West Champaran SP Jayant Kant said that 8 persons had been arrested in connection with the incident. He confirmed one police personnel was injured in the incident.
