Patna: RJD’s  national  executive committee member and former MP Mohammad Shahabuddin, who was lodged in Siwan jail for the last 12 years, was shifted to Bhagalpur central jail in the wee hours following raids and search at his ward by Siwas DM and SP on Wednesday.

Under heavy security, the Siwan district  administration moved Shahbuddin to Bhagalpur before dawn. During the raid, Siwan district administration officials had found over 60 people present in the jail to meet the jailed leader without written permission from the jail authorities or any entry on jail records. They were carrying mobile sets which was against the provision of jail manual. Police seized 62 mobile sets and started investigation into their owners some of them notorious criminals of the area.The officials were told  they were present at the bi-weekly Janata Darbar conducted by Shahbuddin on Saturday and Wednesday. Those present included former chairperson of Siwan municipality and some leading businessmen .

Call records of the mobile used by one of the suspects in Siwan journalist Rajdev Ranjan murder case had revealed the instructions to kill Rajdev had come from the jail where Shahbuddin was lodged. In all 36 calls were made from jail, police said. Following  CDRs(call detail records), police had raided and searched jail premsies on Wednesday and found large number of guests of Shahbuddin present there.
