Patna : World No and winner of 23 Grand Slam singles title including 7 Wimbledon title Serena Williams, 37, USA, swept past World No 54 Barbora Strycova, 33, Czech Republic, 6-1, 6-2 in the 2nd semi-finals at All England Club, London, to storm into the finals of Wimbledon Championships on July 11, 2019.

Former World No 1 Serena will face another former World No 1 Simona Halep, 27, Romania, in the final on July 13, 2019. Halep crushed World No 8 Elina Svitolina, Ukraine, 6-1, 6-3 in the first semi-finals the same day. Serena is bidding for her 24th Grand Slam singles titles while Halep is bidding for her second. Serena had won Wimbledon title in 2002, 2003, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2015, and 2016.

Serena, the 11th seed,  broke Strycova’s service four times in the match besides winning five games in a row. The American served 4 Aces in the match to 1 by Strycova. Serena won 33 service points to 20 by her rival. Serena’s winning percentage both on her first and second serve (89% & 56 %) was much higher than that of Strycova (52% & 47 %).
