Patna : Replying to Australia’s 223 all out in 50 overs, England were  197/2 after 28 overs in the 2nd semi-finals of CWC at Edgbaston, Birmingham, England, on July 11, 2019, night, with Captain Eoin Morgan batting on 33 and Joe Root also batting on 33. England were off to a rollicking start with openers Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow adding 124 runs for the first wicket.

Bairstow fell to fast bowler Mitchell Starc for 34 with 5 fours. Roy fell to fast bowler Pat Cummins for 85 in 65 balls hitting 9 fours and 5 sixes making it 147/2. Both Roy and Bairstow were particularly severe on Starc. Roy also hit part-times spinner Steven Smith for three sixes.
