Senior IAS officer S M Raju suspended

Patna : In the multi-crore scholarship scam, a senior IAS officer S M Raju has been suspended by Bihar CM Nitish Kumar. Bihar government on January 12 issued a notification to this effect.Raju is currently Additional Member,  Board of Revenue. A case was registered against him with Vigilance police station cohere in connection with the scam in the last week of November 2016.
According to a notification issued by general administration department (GAD), Raju, an IAS of 1991 batch, was an accused in the case registered against him at Vigilance police station on November 26, 2016. The FIR was filed following irregularities in the distribution of scholarships to students of scheduled castes and tribes in 2013 -14. Scholarships were given to the students of some non-existent engineering and medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh, Talengana and Odisha.
