Ara : Sadar Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO), Aea, Arun Prakash sealed the office of the Council of Patent Medicine Open Institute at Jagdeo Nagar under Nawada police station, Ara, on August 6, 2018, late evening. It is said to be affiliated to Sri Lanka Open Institute. Haryana government had in 2017 banned practice by the doctors who had got their medical degrees from this institute.

A six- member team of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) from Patna led by DSP Lalit Kumar Jaiswal, on the direction of the Patna High Court, had conducted raids at the office of Council of Patent Medicine at Jagdeo Nagar under Nawada police station on July 31, 2018, and seized several documents and papers. The CBI also lodged a named FIR against the Director cum Principal, Council of Patent Medicine, Dr Gaya Prasad Nirbhay, for running unauthorised medical colleges at Ara and Muzzaffarpur in Bihar, Lucknow, and Mathura in Uttar Pradesh, Faridabad in Haryana, Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh and Bengaluru in Karnataka and also awarding degrees in Allopath, Homoeopath and Ayurved from these colleges and also realizing crores of rupees from the students in the name of admission and other works.

After the Haryana government found their degrees fake and banned their practice in 2017, the students filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in Patna High Court. The court took cognisance against such medical college and distribution of fake degree by them and found that these medical colleges were opened without permission from the Indian Medical Council (IMC) and Homoeopathic Central Council (HCC).

The court ordered the CBI on July 10, 2018, to lodge an FIR in this regard and also directed it to hold a high level probe into the matter. The court also directed the CBI to submit its investigation report to the government at the earliest and said that it would disobedience of the court if the CBI lingers the investigation.
