Villagers block Ara-Sasaram road to protest failure of drainage system

Ara : Hundreds of villagers blocked the Ara-Sasaram main road near village Bagwa for about three hours on August 7, 2018, and raised slogans against Bhojpur district administration. They burnt tyres and paralysed movement of vehicles in protest against failure of drainage system. The villagers said that despite repeated request, the district administration has remained indifferent to the problem facing them.

The villagers said that due to failure of drainage system at their villages, drain water had entered their houses. The situation became miserable in the rainy season. Due to accumulation of rain water mixed with dirty drain water, children have become vulnerable of water born diseases. Venomous snakes have taken more than a dozen lives in a week but the district administration officials are not bothered at all. The blockade was lifted after positive assurance from police officials and the BDO.
