Scribe Rajdeo murder case accused Kaif gets bail but to remain in jail

Muzaffarpur : CBI court, Muzaffarpur, on January 19, 2017, granted bail to Mohammad Kaif, a key accused in Siwan journalist Rajdeo Ranjan murder as the CBI failed to file chargesheet in the case within 90 days. But Kaif, allegedly an associate of former RJD MP Mohammad Shahabuddin, would continue to be in Siwan as he is also booked in an extortion case the hearing of which is scheduled for January 23.

Five accused of Rajdeo Ranjan murder case, who were lodged in Siwan jail, had been shifted to Muzaffarpur central jail in view of the trial of the case in CBI court, Muzaffarpur. They were shifted to Muzaffarpur jail following the order of CBI court. But Kaif was kept in Siwan jail.

The five accused shifted to Muzaffarpur jail were Rohit Kumar, main shooter, Rajesh Kumar, Vijay Kumar, Sonu Kumar and Rishu Kumar. Rajdeo Ranjan, Siwan Bureau chief of Hindi daily Hindustan, was shot dead by criminals near fruit  market on Station Road, Siwan, on May 13, 2016. Police had arrested five accused after the incident.

Rohit and other four had told police that at the time of incident main accused Laddan Mian, who had given Supari to them, Mohammad Kaif and Javed were present under railway overbridge. Laddan had surrendered before the court before CBI probe into the murder while Kaif and Javed had surrendered after the CBI probe began.
