Ara : Under the banner of Sarafa and Swarn Vyavasayi Sangh hundreds of traders and businessmen staged a Candle march from Gopali Chowk, Ara, on July 31, 2018, that passed through the main thoroughfares of the town and culminated at Shahi Masjid. They took out the Candle march in protest against murder of a jeweller Ravi Gupta and failure of  police to arrest the killers even after a week.

They were demanding arrest of miscreants at the earliest, Rs 10 lakh compensation to next of kin of the deceased, arms licenses for self defence to all the businessmen and traders, assurance of their security and treatment of the elder brother of the deceased at government cost.

Some motorcycle borne armed persons had shot dead Ravi Gupta and injured his elder brother Tribhuan Gupta, sons of Hari Narayan Gupta of Kamta Bazaar locality under Baniapur police station in Saran district, when they were returning to their residence on Godhna road under Nawada police station, Ara, from in the late evening on July 24, 2018, after closing their jewellery  shop at Bazaar Samiti.
