Patna :World No 13 Sameer Verma, India, crashed out of Toyota Thailand Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 500 tournament, at Bangkok, Thailand, losing to World No 17 Lee Zii Jia, Malaysia, in the first round on July 31, 2019, continuing his poor form.

Lee Zii Jia beat Sameer Verma, the 8th seed, in three games 21-23, 21-11, 21-5 in 52 minutes in the first round at Indoor Stadium Huamark, Bangkok, Thailand, to enter the 2nd round. Jia won 63 rallies in the match to 39 by Sameer. He won 7 consecutive points to 5 by the Indian. Jia now leads Sameer 2- Head to Head. Sameert’s elder brother Sourabh Verma also lost in the first round to World No 16 Kanta Tsuneyama, Japan.
