Saina slips to World No 18 in BWF rankings, Sindhu remains World No 6

Patna : Chen Yu Fei (98,265 points), China, and Tai Tzu Ying ( 95,775 points), and Akane Yamaguchi ( 88,650 points), Japan, remain World No 1, 2 & 3 respectively in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings released on January 21, 2020, Saina Nehwal, India, has slipped 7 places to be ranked World No 18 with 49,017 points. Reigning World Champion P V Sindhu, India, remains World No 6 with 72,914 points. Saina had lost in the first round of INdonesia Masters while Sindhu had lost in 2nd round.

Nozomi Okuhara, Japan, the 2017 World Champion, is World No 4 with 87,186 points while Ratchanok Intanon, Thailand, who had won Indonesia Masters title on January 19, 2020, remains World No 5 with 78,485 points. He Bing Jiao, China, is World No 7 with 70,140 points while Michelle Li, Canada, is World No 8 with 61,545 points. A N Se Young, South Korea, is World No 9 with 61,470 points while reigning Olympic Champion Carolina Marin, Spain, is World No 10 with 58,220 points. Carolina, a three-time former World Champion, had reached final of Indonesia Masters last week.

Sayaka Takahashi, Japan, who had defeated both P V Sindhu and Saina Nehwal at Indonesia Masters last week, has jumped 3 places to be ranked World No 11 with 54,717 points.

Mugdha Agrey, India, is World No 71 with 21,640 points while Ashmita Chaliha, India, has jumped 3 places to be ranked World No 81 with 19,945 points. Riya Mookerjee, India, has also jumped 3 places to be ranked World No 83 with 19,530 points. Rituparna Das, India, has slipped 1 position to be ranked World No 100 with 17,300 points.
