Saharsa : Police on May 5, 2017, arrested notorious criminal Haider alias Bengali Tiger, for firing at a collection agent of Gramin Bank Suman Kumar Singh and looting Rs 1.24 lakh from him on D B Road under Sadar police station, Saharsa, in December 2016.
Haider is son of fruit seller Ghulam Rasul of Islamia Chowk and nephew of former MLC Mohd Israel Rayeen. Haider has admitted his involvement in firing on Suman Kumar Singh and loot of cash from him, said SDPO Subodh Kumar Biswas.
Police also succeeded in arresting four other criminals involved in loot of cash and assault at different places during last four months in the district. Police also seized Rs 24,000 from their possession besides a bike and a cellphone. The arrested criminals were identified as Gandhi Path resident Raushan Kumar, Refugee colony resident Rakesh Sinha alias Verma, Kahra village resident Pramod Das and Nado village resident Mukesh alias Jagat.
