Saharsa administration fails to evict Mahadalits from disputed plot

Saharsa: A Saharsa district administration team headed by  Magistrate cum CO, Sonbersa Raj, Ram Avatar Yadav, was on August 29, 2017, chased away by Mahadalits who pelted it with stones when it reached village Mangwar under Basnahi police station to evict them from a 15 kathha plot allegedly belonging Dr Chandra Mohan Singh, who is posted at Purnia.

The Mahadalits, who forcibly occupied the plot by breaking the lock of gate of the compound on August 13, 2017, also assaulted the Circle Officer (CO), Sonbersa Raj,  Ram Avatar Yadav. The Mahadalits blocked Atalkha – Madhepura road for four hours to protest the district administration’ move to evict them from the plot.

Dr Singh had constructed the boundarywall in December 2016. Dr Singh had lodged complaint with SDO, Saharsa, Saurabh Jorwal, alleging some people had forcibly camptured his plot. SDO Jorwal had sent a team with force to evict the mahadalits from the plot.
