Rs 25 lakh each demanded from former minister Dinesh Prasad, Saraiya BDO

Muzaffarpur: Criminals have demanded an extortion amount of Rs 25 lakh each from former minister Dinesh Prasad and Block development officer (BDO), Saraiya, Muzaffarpur, Mohammad Asif, through SMS. SSP, Muzaffarpur, Vivek Kumar, has constituted separate teams to investigate into the extortion demand from them.

Both Prasad and Asif were threatened with dire consequence if they fail to meet the extortion demand. In fact, the criminals have threatened to eliminate their family members as well. Both Prasad and Asif had informed the DM, SSP, Saraiya DSP anf police stations concerned about the SMSs they received besides demanding security for themselves and their family members. FIRs have been lodged in this connection with Shivaipatti and Saraiya police stations respectively.

Police have started investigation into the number from which SMSs were sent to the two persons. Both Prasad and Asif had received SMSs at an interval of ten minute. Asif had received SMS on his official mobile number at 8.37 pm on Monday.
