Patna : Rajasthan Royals (RR) beat Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 7 wickets in the 14th match of IPL-12 at Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur, Rajasthan, on April 2, 2019, late night, with opener Jos Buttler (wk) scoring 59 runs in 43 balls hitting 8 fours and a six Steven Smith 38 in 31 balls hitting 2 fours and a six. With this defeat, RCB have lost their first 4 matches in the tournament while RR have opened their account with this win. RR had won the toss but opted to bowl.

Batting first, RCB scored 158/4 in 2o overs with opener Parthiv Patel scoring 67 runs in 41 balls hitting 9 fours and a six while Captain Virat Kohli scored 23 in 25 balls hitting 3 fours. Kohli, A B de Villers, and Shimron Hetmyer fell to spinner Shreyas Gopal, who bowled a super spell. A B de Viller made 13 while Hetmyer scored 1 run. Marcus Stoinis and Moeen Ali remained unbeaten on 31 and 18 runs respectively. For RR, Shyeyas Gopal took 3/12 in 4 overs.

Chasing a target of 159, RR scored 164/3 in 19.5 overs with openers Jos Buttler and Ajinkya Rahane (captain) scoring 59 and 22 runs respectively adding 60 runs for the first wicket. Buttler also added 44 runs with Steven Smith for the second wicket. Rahul Tripathy scored an unbeaten 34 in 23 balls hitting 3 fours and a six. Rahul hit the winning six.
