Patna : State Vigilance Investigation Bureau on August 2, 2018, arrested Block Development Officer (BDO), Rampur block in Kaimur district, Varsha Tarvey, red handed accepting a bribe of Rs 1.15 lakh from Mukhia, Huradhi panchayat, Satyendra Kumar Singh, for allowing him to start work on ‘Gali Nali Yojana’ under Saat Nischay Programme of CM Nitish Kumar.

A Vigilance Bureau team led by DSP Maharaj Kanishk Kumar arrested BDO Varsha Tarvey from her residence at Rampur. During the search operation, the Vigilance Bureau team also seized another Rs 1.70 lakh from her residence.

Mukhia, Huradhi panchayat, Satyendra Kumar Singh, had lodged a complaint with Vigilance Bureau alleging that BDO Tarvey and Panchayat  Secretary Satyendra Singh were demanding Rs 1.15 lakh each, 5 percentage of the project cost, from him to allow him to start work on it.

The Vigilance Bureau team found the allegations prima facie true and laid a trap to arrest both BDO Tarvey and Panchayat Secretary Singh after lodging an FIR against both of them. Panchayat Secretary Singh could not be arrested as he was summoned by Public Grievance Redressal cell, Kaimur. BDO Tarvey will be produced before Vigilance Court, Patna, on August 2, 2018, itself.
