Patna : World No 22 in WTA rankings Qiang Wang, 26, China, and World No 19 Ashleigh Barty, 22, Australia, reached the final of WTA Elite Trophy tennis tournament at Zhuhai, China, on November 3, 2018. They will clash in the final on November 4, 2018.

Wang inflicted a crushing defeat on two-time Grand Salm champion and World No 17 Garbine Muguruza, 25, beating her 6-2, 6-0 in the semi-finals on November 3.

Wang fired 7 Aces in the match to none by Muguruza. Both the players committed 2 double faults each. Wang, however, won 5 break points to none by former French Open and Wimbledon champion Muguruza. Wang won 11 games in a row in the match. Interestingly, Muguruza was originally scheduled to play World No 16 Madison Keys, 23, USA, in the semi-final. But, Keys could not play the match due to knee injury and Wang replaced her on the basis of her performance in Group Stage matches.

Barty beat World No 14 Julia Georges, 29, Germany, in a three-set encounter 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 in the semi-finals. Barty fired 8 Aces in the match to 7 by Julia. Barty, however, committed 6 double faults to 2 by Julia. Barty though won 4 break points to 2 by Julia. Barty won 4 games in a row to 3 by Julia in the match.

Twelve female players participated in the singles event at the tournament. They were split into 4 four groups.
