Benefits of welfare schemes now reaching poor directly : Tandon

Patna : Bihar Governor Lalji Tandon while inaugurating the ‘State of the States Conclave’ organised here by ‘India Today’ on November 3, 2018, said that the media must evaluate the achievements of various public welfare schemes. He said that negative approach can’t accelerate the pace of development.

The benefits of both central and state schemes were now directly reaching the deprived and weaker sections of the society, the Governor said adding that he called up Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on November 2, 2018, to congratulate him for providing electricity to the remotest areas in the state including the houses of the deprived section of the society ahead of the schedule before that too before Deepawali. The Governor said that there was a time when Bihar was placed in category of ‘ BIMARU’ states but now it is developing at a very fast pace.

Referring to the welfare schemes including ‘Ayushman’, ‘Saubhagya’, ‘Ujjwala’ and ‘ Saat Nischay’, Governor Tandon said that all these schemes had proved to be of immense to the poor. He said that small industries could not avail loan up to Rs 1 crore from financial institutions in just 59 minute. The media must appreciate such welfare schemes, Tandon added. The Governor said that Bihar has a very rich historical and cultural heritage.
