Ara : Bhojpur police took Sanjeev Shyam Singh, MLC from Gaya Teachers constituency, along with many agitating teachers under custody on April 13, 2017, evening for allegedly violating prohibitory order. All of them were released around 7.15pm

Sanjeev Shyam Singh had come here in support of the private college teachers who are agitating for equal pay for equal work and other demands for the last one month. The teachers have boycotted the evaluation of Intermediate and Matriculation exam answer- books to press their demands. On April 13, the agitating teachers led by the MLC took out a procession that passed through the main thoroughfares of the town and staged dharana at the gate of Town School about 50 metre away  from Town Police Station, Ara. Police took the MLC and other teachers including lady teachers under custody for violating section 144 of Cr PC.

SDPO, Ara, Sanjay Kumar and SDO Navdeep Shukla said that Town School and S B College were made centres for the evaluation of answer- books of Intermediate examination while H P Jain School, Nemi Chandra Shastri and H N K High Schools were made evaluation centres for the evaluation of answer- books of Matriculation examination.

Sanjeev Shyam Singh, MLC, said that they were agitating peacefully to press their just demands but the state government did not like it so the police resorted to highhandedness. He said that the government will have to concede the demands of the teachers at any cost otherwise the agitation will be intensified.
