Buxar  : Some unidentified criminals shot dead three persons at village Laxmanpur Dera under Rajpur police station in Buxar district on April 13, 2017, night. Later, police brought the bodies to Buxar Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.

The deceased were identified as Manoj Singh, 40, son of Harihar Singh of village Guraunha under Buxar Muffassil Police Station, Santosh Rai, 20, son of Indar Rai, and Ram Bachan Rai, 65, son of Vishnu Rai of Laxmanpur Dera village. Personal rivalry is said to be the cause behind the incident. Police recovered blank cartridges from the place of occurrence. Tension prevails in and around the village following the incident though police have cordoned off the village and searching for the assailants.

R P Singh, who runs a private clinic at Buxar and Manoj Singh’s elder brother, said that Manoj Singh was a farmer and he, his driver Santosh Rai and his grandfather Ram Bachan Rai after returning from the field, were talking at Manoj Singh’s house in the late evening on April 13 night. They were about to have their supper. In the meantime, about a dozen armed criminals came and shot dead Manoj Singh, Santosh Rai and Ram Bachan Rai and fled away towards the southern side of the village. He said that he and his family members had not enmity with anyone at the village and added that he did not know as to why the criminals killed them.

Buxar SP Upendra Sharma said that the area had very sensitive for long. All the three deceased belonged to ‘Rajbhar’ community. He said that in an encounter with police at Laxmanpur Dera village on June 26, 2010, six persons including a hardcore criminal Suresh Rajbhar and an SAP personnel were killed. Santosh Rai was suspected to be police informer and the family members of the deceased were seeking to take revenge. The SP said that police were investigating the matter from every angle and hoped that the assailants would nabbed very soon. Villagers said that Munna Rajbhar, one of the relatives of Suresh Rajbhar, was released on bail about fortnight.
