Patna: A pregnant woman Ranju Devi and her seven month old daughter Shalini were burnt alive allegedly by their family members at village Haniya under Kutumba police station in Aurangabad district late on September 19 evening. Ranju’s brother Rakesh Kumar has lodged a written complaint with the police station concerned against her father in-law, mother in-law and two female members of the family.
Rakesh said that his sister, a native of Ekauna village under Mufassil police station, was married to Alok Kumar in 2014. He said that soon after the marriage, his sister’s in-laws started demanding Rs. 1 lakh cash besides a bike in dowry. ” Her in-laws had also stopped giving her food and she used to starve many times along with her daughter,” alleged Rakesh adding that her in-laws poured kerosene oil on Ranju and her daughter and set them ablaze causing their instant death on Monday evening.
