Saharsa : Dalits of village Bherdhari under Saharsa Nagar Parishad on April 6, 2017, protested attack on six dalits by some strongmen of the village allegedly led by Councillor of ward number 37 Sajan Sharma. Babloo Sada, who was injured in the incident and admitted Saharsa Sadar hospital, lodged a complaint with Sadar police station against 11 persons and demanded action against them.

Babloo Sada, son of Chano Sada, alleged that Sajan Sharma had collected Rs 10,000 each from dalits of the village promising them Indira Awas units which they did not get. In view of the ensuing Nagar Parishad polls, they had started demanding return of their money which infuriated Sajan Sharma and his supporters who attacked him on April 6 morning when he was sitting outside his house, he alleged. They abused him and assaulted him, Babloo Sada alleged adding when his aunt Rita Devi and her mother Ramsundari Devi tried to protect him they were also beaten up.

Sajan Sharma, however, rubbished the allegations against him and said that the fact was that he was attacked by some dalits. Sharma also lodged a complaint with Sadar police station in this regard. Police have started investigation into the incident.
