Gopalganj: A Kuchaikot police team on January 3 intercepted a truck carrying potato bags and seized huge quantity of IMFL worth Rs 50 lakh from the vehicle. The truck was enroute Muzaffarpur from Ludhiana and its driver Ashok Singh, a native of Punjab, was arrested by police.
Sadar Inspector Nigam Kumar Verma said that the truck was loaded with potato bags and 445 cartoons of IMFL having 7,140 bottles. He said that a police team constituted on the directive of Gopalganj SP Ravi Ranjan Kumar are conducting investigation into the matter. Police sources said that a Kuchaikot police team was checking vehicles at Bhatwa Mor. The truck driver, after seeing the cops, started escaping with the vehicle. But, police team chased the vehicle and intercepted it.
Police said that the arrested driver made startling revelations about the illegal trade. He told the police that he had earlier delivered consignment of liquor in potato bags at Muzaffarpur.
