Ara: Bhojpur police, on a tip off, intercepted a four wheeler on Ara-Buxar main road on Sunday and seized 2,760 bottles of liquor and arrested five persons. An FIR was also lodged in this connectionwith police.
The arrested persons were identified as Santosh Kumar Paswan, son of Badri Paswan of Kamriaaw village under Tier police station, Binod Kumar, son of Kishun Mahto of Shahpur under Shahpur police station, Munna Pandey and his brother Rahul Pandey, sons of Ram Narain Pandey of Sonki village under Shahpur police station in Bhojpur district, and driver of the vehicle Arjun Yadav, son of Hareram Yadav of Pranpur village under Khajuri police station in Balia, Utter Pradesh.
Bhojpur SP Kshatranil Singh said that he was informed that a consignment of liquor was being carried by the liquor mafias on Pick-up van, Bolero and two motorcycles on Ara-Buxar road enroute Ara on Sunday. He immediately formed a police team under ASP (operations) Md. Sajid and directed him to launch intensive vehicle checking campaign on Ara-Buxar main road. During vehicle checking, police team intercepted the said Pick-up van that was being escorted by two motorcycles. When it was searched, police recovered 2,760 bottles of liquor kept in 230 cartoons. The SP said that the consignment was brought from Arunachal Pradesh to Ranchi and from there it was being brought to Shahpur in small vehicle.
