Gopalganj: With the arrest of seven persons including two women, Gopalganj police on Sunday claimed to have busted a gang involved in cheating innocent persons by handing them over fake currency notes. Three briefcases containing currency notes of plain papers were recovered from the possession of the arrested persons.

Gopalganj SP Ravi Ranjan Kumar on Sunday said that the arrested persons used to make bundles of currency notes with plain papers. He said that they used to keep original currency notes on the top and bottom of the bundles to dodge their innocent customers.

SP Kumar said that on getting information, a team headed by Town police station SHO Santosh Kumar was constituted and it conducted raid at village Ramnagar and arrested one Lallan Singh. He said that acting on the revelations made by the arrested person, the team later arrested Mukesh Kumar, Radhe Shyam, Hare Ram Prasad, Raju Ram, Sandhya Devi and Pooja Devi from different localities of the district. Raids were on to arrest the kingpin and other members of the gang, he added.
