Ara : Police, on a tip off, conducted raids near Western Railway Crossing, Ara, on January 29, 2020, and seized 238 Gram of Heroin worth about Rs 10 lakh. Police also arrested a drug peddler Jagannath Teli alias Lalak Teli of Shahpur and seized Rs 4 lakh cash from his possession.
Bhojpur SP Sushil Kumar on January 30, 2020, said that he got information that a drug peddler was dealing in Heroin near One Step Coaching centre beneath the Western Railway Crossing Bridge under Nawada police station, Ara, in Bhojpur district. The SP immediately swung into action and formed a team under ASP Ambrish Rahul.
Police team conducted raids in the area. Seeing police, the drug peddler tried to escape but police chased and nabbed him and seized 238 Gram of Heroin, two bank pass-books, two Aadhar Cards, and Rs 4 lakh cash from his possession. The seized Heroin is estimated to be worth about Rs 10 lakh in the international market. A named FIR was lodged with Nawada police station and the arrested drug peddler was sent to to jail after interrogation.
It may be mentioned here that Ganja and Heroin smugglers are active in different parts of Bhojpur district. Police had seized seized 300 gram of Heroin and Rs 2 lakh cash from Gangi locality under Ara Town police station in December 2019.
