Patna :  Rs. 4.50 lakh was paid as ‘Supari’ for killing former Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) Ward Councillor Nageshwar Rai. The contract amount was allegedly given by one Kedar Rai, who had land dispute and battle for supremacy with the former Ward Councillor.
A Patna Police team on September 7, 2019, arrested the main conspirator Kedar Rai from Raqabganj in Malsalami area along with three other persons in connection with the murder. The other arrested persons were identified as Satyendra Kumar
(Raghopur, Vaishali), Sudhir Kumar (Biddupur, Vaishali), and Kundan Kumar (Sanjay Kumar), Jakkanpur in Patna. Police also recovered Rs 10,000 cash, one country-made pistol, one live cartridge, and helmet used in the crime. The former Ward Councillor was murdered in Yogipur locality under Patrakarnagar police station in Patna on September 1, 2019.
Interacting with mediapersons, SSP, Patna, Garima Mallik, said that Kedar Rai had landed dispute and war of supremacy with Nageshwar Rai. She said that Kedar Rai had given Rs 4.50 lakh as supari to Sudhir and Kundan through his relative Satyendra Kumar Rai to eliminate the former ward councilor.
The SSP said that Satyendra Rai and Kundan had earlier gone to jail. The incident had taken place when Nageshwar was on way to his residence after having a hair cut. The assailants, who were waiting there, gunned him down and escaped.
