Patna: With the arrest of four persons, Patna Police on February 2 claimed to have busted the gang involved in firing at a medicine shop-owner near PMCH on January 27 night besides seeking rangdari of Rs 30 lakh from the owner of Gopal Electric on January 29, 2017. Police also recovered two pistols, eight live cartridges, a bike used in the crime, a liquor bottle, cellphone and sim card used for seeking extortion besides four cellphones from the possession of the arrested persons, said Patna Senior SP (SSP) mannu Maharaaj.

On Januray 27 night, some criminals had fired at the owner of Life Medico Abdul Rashid Ansari and a case was registered with Pirbahore police station in this connection. The criminals on January 29 sought an extortion of Rs 30 lakh from the owner of Gopal Electric and an FIR was lodged with Pirbahore police station.

Soon after the two incidents, SSP constituted a police team led by City SP (Central), and comprising Pirbahore ps SHO and members of the Technical Cell. The police team started scientific investigation in the case and collected information about those involved in both the incidents.Meanwhile another special police team constituted by SSP looking into the footages of a CCTV camera and also the history of some professional gangs.

During investigation, the police team came to know that some of the criminals involved in two incidents in Pirbahore had assembled at Khalilpura locality under Phulwarisharif police station. A police team carried out raid there and arrested Mohd. Taufiz and Kaif Khan from there. Acting on the revelations made by the duo, a police team raided Sabjibagh locality under Pirbahore police station and arrested Arif and Masroor Alam with two pistols besides eight live cartridges. Both the arrested criminals admitted their involvement in both the crimes.

The SSP said that such was the terror of this gang that they used to operate without fear of the law in areas falling under Pirbhaore, Sultanganj, Alamganj and City Chowk police stations in Patna. He said that the members of this gang used to rob anybody at pistol point at secluded place. The people of the locality have heaved a sigh of relief after their arrest, SSP said adding that the arrested criminals revealed the name of one Javed Bukhari, who provided pistols to them. Raids were on to arrest the other members of the gang, the SSP said.
