PO, MNREGA, Sonbarsa, Rajiv Ranjan, nabbed accepting Rs 2.57 lakh as bribe

Patna : State Vigilance Investigation Bureau sleuths from Headquarters, Patna, on September 5, 2018, arrested Programme Officer (PO), MNREGA, Sonbarsa block, also holding additional charge of PO, MNREGA, Simri Bakhtiarpur, in Saharsa district, Rajiv Ranjan, accepting Rs 2.57 lakh as bribe in lieu of extending favour to the complainant Rajesh Kumar Yadav under Cattleshed scheme. Vigilance Bureau team led by DSP, Gopal Paswan, also seized Rs 1.93 lakh from Rajiv’s house during search operation..

PO Rajiv Ranjan was arrested from his rented accommodation at Kayasthatola under Sadar police station, Saharsa. He had demanded 14% of the total amount sanctioned under the scheme from the complainant. An FIR was lodged in this connection by Vigilance Bureau on September 4, 2018, after verifying the allegations of the complainant. Rajiv Ranjan would be produced the Vigilance Court II at Patna after interrogation.
