Patna : Amit Panghal, 22, India, beat 2016 Rio Olympic Gold Medallist Hasanboy Dusmatov, Uzbekitan, 25, in 49 kg category ( Light Flyweight)Boxing final in the 18th Asian Games at Jakarta – Palembang, Indonesia, to win Gold Medal on September 1, 2018. It was 14th Gold Medal for India in the on going Asian Games.

Panghal from Haryana, India, won the bout 3-2. Panghal dominated the first two rounds. Union Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore described Panghal’s victory as brilliant boxing. Panghal hails from Mayna in Rohtak district in Haryana. His father Vijendra Singh is a farmer while his elder brother is in Army. Panghal is a Junior Commioned Officer (JCO) in the Army. He had won Silver Medal at 2018 Commonwealth Games (CWG) at Gold Coast, Australia.
