Ara : Police, on a tip off, conducted raids at village Sahangi under Gadhani police station and village Kamaria under Azimabad police station in Bhojpur district on August 31, 2018, evening, and seized about a dozen firearms and hundreds of live cartridges. Police also arrested some arms smugglers including a woman, wife of Raj Kumar Mahto, who is lodged in Ara jail. But, police refrained from disclosing the names of arrested arms smugglers.
Bhojpur SP Awakash Kumar said that a police team led by ASP (Operations) Nitin Kumar is conducting raids to arrest arms suppliers and seize firearms. He said that police conducted raid at village Kamaria village under Aziambad police station and seized two countrymade pistols and hundreds of live cartridges of 7.62 caliber and arrested some arms smugglers along with a woman, wife of Raj Kumar Mahto, who was arrested 20 days ago along with firearms and was sent to jail.
Police also conducted raid at village Sahangi under Gadhani police station and seized about a dozen firearms and live cartridges, the SP said.
But the SP refused to give details of the raids saying that raids were still on police were trying to arrest the kingpin of arms smugglers. He said that more information will be shared after conclusion of raids.
