Patna : World No 5 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings Chen Long, 29, China, defeated World No 1 and reigning World Champion Kento Momota, 24, Japan, in the semi-finals of French Open badminton tournament at Paris, France, on October 27, 2018, night. Reigning Olympic champion Long now leads Momota 5-2 head to head.
Chen Long upset Momota in straight games 21-18, 21-8 in 52 minutes to enter the final of BWF French Open. Long won 42 rallies in the match to 26 by Momota. Long also won 7 consecutive points to 5 by Momota. He will clash with World No 2 Shi Yuqi, 22, China, in the final on October 28, 2018. Yuqi beat World No 22 Rasmus Gemke, 21, Denmark, 21-11,21-16 in 47 minutes in the semi-finals on October 27.
