Patna: To give a facelift to old houses on both sides of Ashok Rajpath right from Gandhi Maidan to City Chowk in Patna City sub-division, the Patna district administration has decided to paint all of them with white so that they look on the occasion of 350th   Prakashotsav of Guru Givind Singh on January 5, 2017. A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting at Takht Sri Harmandir Ji Saheb which was attended by senior officials including Patna DM Sanjay Agarwal, Patna SSP Manu Maharaj, Urban Development principal secretary Chaitanya Prasad and SDO, Patna City, Yogendra Singh.

Prasad visited different localities including Mangal Talav, City School, Rail Over-bridge (ROB) at Chowk Shikarpur and Old Bypass linking Patna Saheb Station to City Chowk. The DM took stock of the situation and went through different files related to ongoing preparations for the function as PM Narendra Modi has given his consent to participate in the function. Patna City SDO called some of the landlords and asked them to break their balconies hanging dangerously on the roadside. Even houses located on Old Bypass Even houses located on Old By Pass, connecting City Chowk to Patna Saheb Station would also be painted with white colour. Patna DM directed the officials accompanying him to remove all encroachments on road immediately. He also directed the officials to remove vegetable and fish market under Chowk Shikarpur ROB immediately.

Agarwal said that preparations were on to install 200 CCTV cameras at important chowks and places to keep an eye on the movement of those visiting Patna City on the occasion. He directed the officials to be complete all the ongoing works by December 20. Laser Show would be organized at local Mangal Talav, the DM said adding that additional police force has been made available to City Chowk police station.
